If you have the chance to come by Alöf Bakery in Glockenbachviertel today before 10 then I will bake a Hazelnut, Fig and Apricot Bread. I do not often use Hazelnuts but a traders here in München, Lady Sasha, reminded me of a Bread I once tried at Alvar och Ivar Bakery in Gothenburg. It is one of my (and Sashas) all time favorites and I remember I finished that loaf without any butter or cheese.
However, I do not think Alvar och Ivar used apricots in that one and I must say, apricots are just perfect in sourdough bread. They are moist and you can skip the butter and go for a salty, somewhat dryer, old Gruyere. A match made in Heaven folks.
And if noone of you can make it, then the Bread goes to Berlin. Yes, I am finally going home. And I am excited as a puppy about it.
So, if Berlin mitte around 6 suits you better than München, then you can send me a mail too and I would save one for you.

I think that you are on to something brilliant with the apricots. I didn’t think that dried figs and hazelnuts could be beat, but the apricots add a little “holy in the number of three” to the bread. Delicious.
