Ganz Schön Retro

Some might find this odd but when I am craving for desserts in the middle of the week I make myself a yogi-jelly. At least this has been the case for a week now. It is simple. Just make a jelly out of your favorite yoghurt and top it with your favorite fruit jelly.

(at the moment) I think jelly is underrated. As long as you make it from scratch. The following 4 where made in my household since last saturday:

1) Mango yogi: Lactose free yogi base (+ gelatine/agar agar) with a layer of unsweetend mango that was made in the mixer. I added some chopped mango too.

2) Soy and Coconut with Mango: Same as above but with a base made with Coconut water and Soy yoghurt. A hit. But since the soy is sweet in itself I would have added some lemon to the Mango. Atleast it was too sweet for my taste. Some I topped with gojiberries, some with blueberries and some with Mint leafs. All good.

3) Yogi and Quark with Mango, Grapefruit and Goji berries. The mix of Yogi and Quark is good. Made the base more sour. Great with Sweet Mango. The Grapefruitjelly was nice too.

4) Grapefruit with Ginger Yogi. Grapefruit and Ginger is a favorite of mine. The base is a yoghurt jelly spiced up with gingerpowder. I topped the dessert with canded ginger for some sweetness.

For the next time I will combine 1) soy and grapefruit 2)Yogi and Mango. That would be a more stable mix between sweet and sour. But before that I will be making a yogi jelly topped with something really sweet. Like Salted Caramel.

My “drinks and vegi-fridge” has turned into a “jelly-dessert-chill-out-fridge”. Space is limited. Only the most needed drinks are allowed in there now.

All layers are mixed with gelatine/agar agar. To me this is better than ice cream.

:) Yes, it sure is! And less sweet. And you can combine it endlessly… I am thinking of maple syrup right now. Or why not with some quince jam? Or apple/cinnamon? Pomme Granate? Sweet lime and Mint? Any further suggestions?
