Die Grosse Reise die kleine Entdeckungen

Since October 3rd 2000 is Berlin my home. But Germany, I can not say I know this country at all.

I have decided to change this.  I will be going to Hessen, Bayern, Hamburg and Ruhrpot before this year has ended.

It must be tons of great stuff to see and try.

I want the small sweet stuff. And the tasty down to earth favorites. And the historical places that didn’t loose its spirits over time.

Please help me.

And I tell you what I found.

the picture is really old. Probably from 2002.  Fussball.

Where in Bayern will you be going? If you get near Lindau and Lake Constance, let me know and I’ll bake some bread and show you around!
All the best for your trip!

Go to Cologne – the cathedral is awesome. Short stroll through the ancient city center and then over to the chocolate museum you oughta see.

    Malin,
if you make it to Düsseldorf, please go to the bakery Hinkel, Bäckerei der Brotfreunde, the name tells it all :) They have the best bread in town and everything they sell is so delicious and have lovely names. Or have you ever eaten something named Nusskuss before?

@Jennifer: Yeay, Frankfurt ;) Went last week. Will be back very soon.
@ Eva: Went to München this week but I am sure I will be back in Bavaria in the beginning of next year. Not too much market research in Lindau for the fashionbusiness but I am sure I could add a day extra and go!
@ Pia: Won’t make it to the Rheinland before spring :( But may I get back to you for good tips when I do?
@Tobias: The Kölner Dom is crazy, I agree. Was lucky to get to know one of the guys that restored paintings there in 2001. He gave me a tour then and it was so beautiful.
@Thi-Loan: Was in Düsseldorf last week :( But I will try the bakery in February when I am back!

Thanks for all suggestions! Will be heading to Zürich and Hamburg the upcoming weeks. Would be happy for any local secret knowledge!

Cool! Pia, what I would love to find is some sweet wine yards where I could also stay overnight, or at least have a nice traditional dinner. Any clue? If you are ever going to Sweden or Belgium, let me know!

You should try the Ruhrgebiet, it is really pretty and has it’s own, old-industrial style and character. Dortmund and Essen have some really nice spots to eat, drink and shop.
