I am not a cake kind of girl

I really like the idea behind cakes. Kind of like making a cocktail. Mixing the tastes. That is nice.

First I wanted to make some kind of lemon-curd strawberry cake. With coconut frosting. But then I thought that was boring. So I decided to make a foresty cake. My Cake-moodboard had images with fairies from the Woods, Bears eating berries, the caramel sauce we had with lingonberries when I was a kid and the taste of a leaf that always hide in the jam you make yourself.

I had home made lingonberry jam and some wild raspberry in the freezer. So I made a layered cake. I really like the idea of fluffy mouse covered cakes so I made a caramel fluff that I found on a Finnish cake blog. All very nordic. A wild cake.

Fudge in finish is called Kinuski. So my cake must be a Kinuski-Kaka. Enjoy.

But making cakes is only nice in theory.

It took me 4 hours to make the cake today. The kitchen was a mess. Afterward I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed right away.

PS. It is not done yet. The glaced berries are coming up tomorrow.

And the comment from the Bday Kid was: Why did you not make me Bread instead?
