My Amsterdam Dinner tip for you

I am still in Amsterdam. I am having a really good week here. We are getting the Fall/Winter 2011 collection presented to us. 4 days of history and references. And production information. And fabric knowledge. The stories makes me weak sometimes.

This I like.

I wish more womens wear were made like this. There is so much heritage fashion out there for guys (even though not much of it actually can talk about a legacy.) But for girls? Way too little I think. Is it because ladies don’t care? I hope not.

I have barely checked my mail since I got here. Time flies. Tonight I was hungry, and tired, and needed a minute for myself. So I went to one of the sweetest restaurants I know; Restaurant An, Weteringschans 76.

This is the oldest Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam. Before Sushi was fashion. I never tried their sushi though. Nor have I ever tried any of the main dishes. I never got further then the starters. But they are so good so I don’t need anything else.

I had 1 plate of assorted pickels. 1 miso soup. 1 raw tofu with ginger flakes. 2 green salads ( one with miso dressing and one with soy dressing). Ahhh, I could eat like this every other day.

The Japanese owner makes everything home cooked. He shared the exact recipe of the miso dressing with me (on the ml…) And let me try the salted plum paste. Amazingly good. I will buy it when I get home. Apparently good for everything.

I am never really ordering dessert but today I tried the ice cream. One black and one white. Pretty. They don’t just make it themselves, they also make the yogurt that they make the ice cream from. Caspian yogurt. It tickles your tongue just like yogurt from north of Sweden does (Fjäll yogurt). I will try to make it when I am home for Christmas.

By the way, The black one was with black sesame.
