Holiday pep

If someone would look at us from above that person would probably think „Oh, that’s a life I would call pretty chilled“. Like the impression one gets of life if you follow some people on instagram. My profile is not very different from the friends I am following.  It is full of pictures of yummy foods, girls in white dresses picking flowers and eating cakes, other girls are diving off beautiful old wooden boats into the water in the middle of Stockholm City, shaping the picture into something rather surreal.

One could seriously think that life is a never-ending holiday.

Some people like to mock about this; saying that we are only presenting the pretty part of life online. That on Facebook the sun is always shining, and all we eat is amazingly red  strawberries (filter or #nofilter ?) and perfectly grilled medium rare wagyu beef. Who would ever dare to post anything #welldone these days?

And yes, this might feel disturbing.

Well, if I am honest, when I look at my life from above I like to think that it IS a never ending holiday. But before we continue, let us make one thing clear – I can promise you it is not.

It is just a matter of what color of your glasses I choose to wear.  We can choose to remember the good things, or we can choose to remember the nasty or boring things.

And, I think that if I decided not to make that little extra effort in my everyday life the only one losing is me. It is so so easy to choose to make that simple plate of pasta a little bit more stylish with a leaf of Basil and SWOSH – Holiday feeling!

It is that simple, if you want it to be that simple.

So, if you wake up and feel stressed and think that the to-do-list is too long and crowded to be able to fit your life into it, maybe it will help if you open your instagram and look at your pictures. Not on how your friends spend their weekend, look at your own pictures.

To see a picture of how your own feet are relaxing in the water can atleast help me to get into a good mood. It really does not matter if the picture was taken on Capri or  in a waterbath with some foamy showergel and your favorite plastic duck. In fact, I think the last suggestion is more effective to cheer me up .

    Hi Malin
You are right. Most often we think on the nasty things. I like it very much to see your pictures during your time off. It sometimes inspires me. I am going to start taking pictures from my beautiful experinces which I often forget too fast. Many thanks for your honesty. Have still a nice August. Many greetings Nicole
